After last week’s 17 Miler I felt quite positive and my recovery time was getting shorter. For only the second time since training began I could contemplate a Tuesday night run. To add to last week’s list, I also spent Valentines evening running, a decision that could have caused me injuries of another kind. Thankfully I got away injury free. I still could not manage the Thursday efforts session so went for a gentle 5 Miler on the Friday.

Saturday morning arrived and I went through the usual routine, No frost this time round but the wind was blowing a gale. I’ve been running with a few guys from the City Of Norwich Athletics Club who have been full of encouragement and the plan this weekend was to get through 18 miles. I was feeling a little stiff before we started and my Achilles’ heel and calf were giving me trouble after just 4 or 5 mile. I tried to take it as easy as possible but it turned out to be both physically and mentally gruelling, we got through 18.5 miles, probably the hardest training run yet. I didn’t /couldn’t do much else for the rest of the weekend. I don’t think the Tuesday evening run is on the cards this week as my Achilles’ is feeling pretty sore but I’m trying to stay positive.

“Don’t let that thought get in your foot.”
